How We Researched the Best Dehumidifiers in Australia

We chose 12 dehumidifiers from leading Australian brands and assessed them for humidity control, energy efficiency, and noise. Our 25 square metre basement served as the testing ground, with all vents sealed and its window securely shut.

We raised the room’s humidity using the Ionmax ION90, one of our highest-rated humidifiers, chosen for its substantial water tank. Multiple 90-minute sessions brought the humidity to 85%, a figure verified with our digital hygrometer.

After setting the room’s humidity, we ran each dehumidifier for two hours, assessing them at their minimum and maximum settings. They consistently lowered the humidity from 85% to a bracket of 35%-50%.

We later tested the dehumidifiers during the rainy season in Melbourne (which admittedly is large parts of the year!) and got almost similar results.
